I heard some of the best advice of my life last night in class from a guest speaker:
"Wealth is spending more of your time deliberately."
This means, when you can choose to spend your time how you like, where you like, and with whom you like - those minutes, hours, days are the best way to spend your only limited resource in life - time.
Chasing money without stopping to enjoy the single benefit of having money, which is, deliberately choosing how to spend your time, is pointless and in the end means nothing.
Similarly, squandering your money without a budget, a goal, a financial plan - is idiotic. You have decades of time during which you will be working. Using that time to put a little money into savings and investments can guarantee that later in life, you'll have the chance to deliberately spend a growing amount of your time without working only to meet bills and obligations. A little now goes a long way later - compounding interest is not a difficult concept.
It's simple, but I think setting a goal to spend your time deliberately can really improve your quality of living - now and in the future.
